Three generations gather to celebrate National Mahjong Day
Students from Community School of Naples joined residents at The Carlisle Naples, an active retirement community, on April 30 to celebrate National Mahjong Day—alongside their parents, bringing together three generations for a unique, hands-on experience. Mahjong has recently been introduced as an elective at the school, and this event gave students the opportunity to learn directly from Carlisle players while sharing the experience with their families. Students, parents and residents connected over the strategy, tradition and social nature of the game.
“We are grateful to have a wonderful partnership with the Carlisle, and the children always enjoy our visits,” said Briana Leschen, assistant director of community impact at the Julie Collier Sproul Center at CSN. “Mahjong is a great way for our students to develop meaningful connections with people of all generations. This directly correlates with CSN’s core value of citizenship and our middle school community engagement program.”
