Reflect on the Holocaust

April 10 11:30am

Holocaust educator and The Village at NorthRidge resident Joe Hess was only six years old when his parents put him on a train to escape Nazi Germany in a program called “Kindertransport.” He recently recounted his poignant story in honor of Days of Remembrance on SpectrumTV.

Observed annually, Days of Remembrance is an eight-day period that helps our nation remember and draw lessons from the Holocaust. Hess shared the trauma of witnessing the onsite of the atrocities, including his family’s synagogue being burned down in Fulda, Germany.

In addition to Spectrum TV, Hess was also a guest on The Village at NorthRidge’s newly launched podcast series, “The Golden Mic Experience.” From dating at 79 years old to shattering glass ceilings, the podcast’s listeners can hear the incredible tales of triumph through the prism of older adults with host, talk show veteran Bill Moran.
