Just in time for the upcoming Academy Awards, The Carlisle Naples, our active retirement community in Southwest Florida, recently hosted guest lecturers, Fred and Elsa Katz. The program revisited some of the most popular Oscar winning songs. The pair’s multi-media lecture shared performances by Fred Astaire, Andy Williams, Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra, Celine Dion and more. The Academy Awards honors songwriters who have composed the best original song specifically written for a film but the performers are not credited unless they contributed to the music, lyrics or both. Many SRG senior living communities will also host Academy Awards parties later this month to celebrate the biggest night in Hollywood.
