Active Aging Week kicks off on September 23! Initiated in 2003 by the International Council on Aging, the weeklong campaign calls attention to and wholeheartedly celebrates the positivity of aging today. Our Zest Directors have planned wonderful events to coincide with the week. At Maravilla in Santa Barbara, for example, residents will participate in several activities typically not associated with senior fitness such as kayaking! They’ll stay in the calm water of the Santa Barbara Harbor and enjoy a morning of kayaking, under the guidance of a certified instructor. The adventurous group is redefining what it means to be an older adult!
