Thanks to SRG communities’ maintenance-free lifestyle, cooking is a thing of the past for many of our residents. However, they are still the go-to-person when their children and grandchildren need cooking tips for creating the perfect meal. At NorthWest Place in Portland, Ore., Executive Chef Frank Mendez solicited residents’ favorite family recipes and has added them to tonight’s menu for a spectacular “Family Themed Dinner” night. At sister-community SpringRidge at Charbonneau in Wilsonville, Ore., the “What’s Cooking?” club is gathering residents’ family recipes for a new cookbook which will be sold in the onsite gift shop. Proceeds will be used for the community’s annual scholarship program for high school seniors.
