In late August, when it’s quite dry, Native American tribes would do a rain dance, a ritual still performed today. Residents and guests at Maravilla Scottsdale in Arizona will explore the rich history of the rain dance. “Native Spirit” will be at the active retirement community for a sacred performance, demonstrating the intricacies of the dance as well as a celebratory hoop and shawl dance. The community has even encouraged everyone to wear turquoise to help elicit the rain. It should be quite a fun and educational event, including the American-Indian hors d'oeuvres prepared by the culinary team.
