Dorothy Mills, author, baseball historian and resident at The Carlisle Naples in Southwest Florida, is featured in an interview in new baseball documentary, “Town Teams: Bigger than Baseball”. Produced by Mark Honer of Kansas City, the film focuses on how the pride and rivalry of baseball teams in small towns inspired the spurt of development that grew American social and economic life in the early 19th century. Mark has long been fascinated by the working people who played at every opportunity for the love of the game in small towns across America. He read Mrs. Mills’ speech which she gave in 2012 at Cooperstown about the lack of attention paid to the amateur game and it inspired the film. Today, The Carlisle will show “Town Teams: Bigger than Baseball”. You can view the documentary’s trailer by clicking here.
