When Judith Laserson, 77, moved to The Carlisle Naples, our active retirement community in Southwest Florida, she never imagined adding “Olympian” to her list of accomplishments.
The three-time gold-medalist recently participated in The Carlisle’s annual Summer Olympic Challenge, a weeklong competition where teams of residents face off in 26 challenging events—both physical and mental.
Among the highlights of the competition were Bridge, a Spelling Bee, Golf Chipping, Wii Bowling, and a Walking Challenge, which Laserson won!
The Carlisle encourages residents to keep active and engaged and offers an event for everyone’s ability. The community was divided into three teams— Hawks, Penguins and Leopards—to battle it out for bragging rights. Non-participants served as event cheerleaders, rooting their neighbors and friends onto victory.
This year, the Penguins emerged victorious, and Lou Mascarpone was named “Most Valuable Player.”
The 16th annual Summer Olympic Challenge was featured on the front page of the local newspaper, the Naples Daily News as well as covered by the CBS-affiliate, WINK-TV.
Residents are already looking forward to next year’s event!
