Black History Month recognizes the significant contribution of African Americans and our communities across the nation are marking the occasion with lectures and educational programs. For example, The Piedmont at Buckhead, our active retirement community in Atlanta, will offer a limited series highlighting African Americans who have influenced our culture, enriched society and shaped the history of the country. From well-known civil rights leaders such as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Rosa Parks, to lesser-known figures like Diane Nash who led Freedom Rides and sit-ins, the series is sure to lead to a healthy dialogue among residents.
