Arizona Senator Honors La Siena Resident-Veteran
06-8-2019

Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema recently presented military service medals to La Siena resident, Albert Malcos, more than 70 years after he earned the honors!

Mr. Malcos, who lives at the Phoenix active retirement community, was a prisoner of war during the time his peers were honored and his service was never recognized.

Now 98 years old, he vividly recalls his time as a prisoner of war after his plane was shot down over German territory. He spent 15 months in captivity.

After his family reached out to Sen. Sinema’s office about the missing medals, she felt compelled to act, recalling her own grandfather’s service to our country during WWII.

Sen. Sinema said it was “incredible” to honor him with his long overdue medals and acknowledged his sacrifice in preserving our freedoms.
