Adult Coloring Grows in Popularity

Have you heard about the new craze sweeping the nation…adult coloring? These coloring books are different than those from our childhood in that the pictures are more sophisticated and detailed. Also, instead of crayons, colored pencils are used. Residents at two SRG communities in Arizona—Villa Hermosa and Silver Springs—are relishing adult coloring and reaping the numerous benefits of the activity. Research shows coloring is similar to meditation and can increase mental clarity and decrease stress levels. During the adult coloring classes, residents listen to jazz and other relaxing music while enjoying pastries.
