Maravilla at The Domain Developer SRG Partners with ONR

AUSTIN, TEXAS—May 8, 2019. Senior Resource Group (SRG), an innovator in the retirement industry with 32 upscale senior living communities in seven states nationwide, today announced it is partnering with Austin-based Orthopaedic & Neurological Rehabilitation Inc. (ONR) to provide preemptive health and well-being assessments and on-site rehabilitative services at Maravilla at The Domain.

“One of the most effective ways we can help our residents is to offer programs and services to offset issues that typically arise with aging, thereby improving their health and helping them enjoy their lives to the fullest,” said SRG President and CEO Michael Grust. “Through our partnership with ONR, we can offer rehabilitative services designed to preempt the effects of aging.  For example, by assessing a slight weakness in a person’s leg and gait we can design a targeted physical therapy plan aimed at improving their condition and potentially staving off a serious event.”

“With 30 years in the industry, we utilize state-of-the-art technologies combined with compassionate, outcome-driven care to ensure optimum results,” said ONR CEO, Jill Capela. “We directly impact people’s health and well-being through personalized analysis, preventative care, education and individualized programs. The result is greater mobility and enhanced satisfaction with life.”

The Maravilla/ONR rehabilitative program will focus on three distinct areas – education, fitness and wellness, and rehabilitation. The educational component addresses health issues many seniors face and includes health innovation lectures, wellness and assessment clinics, and community presentations. The fitness and wellness agenda aims to improve strength and balance for enhanced independence and quality of life emphasizing preemption and prevention. Activities may include working with a personal trainer, as well as exercise programs such as yoga, massage therapy, or tai chi. Rehabilitation, the most important component, is a comprehensive, resident-centered program including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and other individualized offerings.

To illustrate the effectiveness of preemptive health and wellness, Capela emphasized the 22 percent fall rate in Texas for seniors living in residential care communities. “Maravilla residents will be able to access VirtuSense – a new, cutting-edge technology that scans for gait and stride irregularities that potentially could lead to future weakness and fall risk,” she said. “Once an abnormality is identified, the program will design an individualized fitness and/or physical therapy program to address the resident’s specific issue and lessen the chance of a future fall.”

Through the program, Maravilla residents will also enjoy the convenience of physical therapy services on-site following surgical procedures such as knee replacement. Having access to professional rehabilitative services contributes immeasurably to reducing hospital readmissions.

Located in the heart of The Domain’s residential area and set to open summer-2019, Maravilla at The Domain is an elegant, state-of-the-art, continuum-of-care senior living campus for residents age 62 and older. Capitalizing on The Domain’s live-work-play environment, the 370,000 square-foot development offers 230 residences – a mix of 142 independent living, 54 assisted living and 34 memory care residences – and associated services and amenities, including access to an on-site rehabilitation center. The multi-level community is comprised of an 11-story South Tower, six- and seven-story Central and North Towers, subterranean parking, courtyards and a swimming pool. The South and Central Towers will house Maravilla’s Independent Living residences, while the North Tower will serve its Assisted Living and Enliven Memory Care residents.
