Celebrate Chanukah

December 12 6:00pm

Amber Lights residents of all faiths are invited to join in lighting the first candle of Chanukah. This holiday celebrates the events recounted in the book of Maccabees, when a band of determined fighters, led by Judah Maccabee (Judah the Hammer), defeated the Syrian empire for the right to practice their religion. The lights symbolize the miracle of the oil, when the eternal flame in the first Temple continued to burn for 8 nights, despite having only enough oil for one night. Each night, a different resident will have the opportunity to light one of the candles.
