Celebrate Chanukah

December 12 4:30pm

Residents of all faiths are invited to join in lighting the first candle of Chanukah. This holiday celebrates the events recounted in the book of Maccabees, when a band of determined fighters, led by Judah Maccabee (Judah the Hammer), defeated the Syrian empire for the right to practice their religion. The lights symbolize the miracle of the oil, when the eternal flame in the first Temple continued to burn for eight nights, despite having only enough oil for one night. Chanukah is just one of many opportunities for spiritual enrichment offed at the senior living community.
