(January 21, 2010) – Excellence in service and amenities has earned The Village at Sherman Oaks retirement community a Three-Year Accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). This is the third consecutive Three-Year Accreditation outcome the international accrediting commission has awarded the independent and assisted living resort style community since its opening in 2001. Of approximately 14,000 assisted living communities in California, only three hold this accreditation.
Senior Resource Group is the owner-operator of The Village at Sherman Oaks. According to SRG’s Chief Operating Officer Kayda Johnson, this merit parallels a five-star rating in the hospitality industry and represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization. SRG is the first senior living provider in the nation to have achieved accreditation at all of the company’s assisted living communities, and operate all three CARF accredited communities in California.
In order for The Village at Sherman Oaks to achieve this distinction, staff had to demonstrate the organization’s substantial conformance to the 800 elevated standards established by CARF.
Following the rigorous review process, CARF surveyors stated the community’s programs and services maintain a strong commitment to high quality service delivery, extensive range of activities and varied approach to soliciting resident feedback. CARF also commended The Village at Sherman Oaks noting that the community is well designed and inviting, and that staff members are compassionate about their engagement with residents.
